Today we were picked up from the hotel at 10:00 am to begin the 3 hour drive toc Split, Croatia. Once again the drive was beautiful with country views, lakes and many tunnels.

Once in Split we were able to check into our rooms. We dropped off our bags and then headed out to lunch. We dined outside Diocletian’s Palace. The pizza was as good as the people watching!

After lunch, we did some exploring including climbing the tower at Diocletians Palace and enjoying great views of the city. It should also be noted that the initial steps were incredibly large…must have been and least 1.5’ tall. We also toured the baptistery and treasury and saw many artifacts.

Lisa, Denise and I ventured around the palace and went into various shops. Some of the shops were in the tunnels of the palace. The guys took it easy and waited for us at an outdoor cafe.

We had refreshments on the hotels rooftop terrace that had magnificent views of the city.

We enjoyed an exceptional 2.5 hour dinner at Portifino. Lisa had fettuccini with lobsters and truffles, James had the monkfish, David had crab and baby shrimp risotto. Rob, Denise and I have the filet mignon. Everything was wonderful. We also met the Greta, the cat who has claimed the square as her own. The restaurant feeds her and she is very friendly with guests.

Step count = 7,751
