Bonaire Day 7

Since today was the day before we fly, the divers needed to remain on the surface. We decided to drive to the other side if the island. Here the water is much rougher than where we’ve been staying.

Along the way, we drove by the salve huts. Yes, sadly the horrors of slavery is part of Bonaire’s history. It’s hard to believe that 4-6 people had to cram into such a small space. Fortunately, slavery on Bonaire was abolished in 1863. The huts remain as a reminder of that awful part of history.

On the other side of the island, we saw much more rock, larger waves, flying flamingos and wandering donkeys. This was all on the way to Jibe City an area of the island know for their kite surfing. I wish I could have captured a good picture of all the kites in the sky..it was pretty awesome but my pics just don't do it justice.

After our tour, we went back to the house to get into the ocean one last time before our trip comes to an end.
